Lingam & Penis Massage

Lingam massage is a tantric and therapeutic massage of the man's penis.

Praktisk Sexologi

The purpose of Lingam (also called penis) massage is to reduce performance anxiety, increase libido and create a stronger sensual connection to the man's body. Lingam / Penis massage has many common features with our approach which we call sexological nude massage for men. We draw on tantra's sensual touch and whole-body focus, but without religious rituals, energy work or spiritual concepts. In contrast to the tantric approach, we do not see orgasm and ejaculation as something to be avoided but as an experience that can also be part of a sexual development process. You can read about our approach here.

What is Lingam/Penis Massage?

Lingam is Sanskrit for "penis" and means "rod of light". A lingam massage is a tantric-inspired practice where the man lies naked on the table while a therapist guides him through touch, breathing and presence. The goal is to release blockages, prolong pleasure and eliminate performance anxiety. Read more on wikipedia.

Lingam massage versus Sexological Massage in Copenhagen

Our approach to massage differs in several key ways from Lingam massage. Our approach is more down-to-earth, practical and relationship-oriented rather than spiritual and ceremonial. Here are the key differences between sexological massage and tantric lingam massage as it is typically defined and practiced:

  • We use no spiritual or religious framework.
Traditional (and very Western) tantra is based on ancient Indian philosophies from the tantric tradition, with elements such as kundalini energy, chakra work, energy flows through the body, awakening of life energy and often a spiritual transformation or union of opposites (e.g. masculine/feminine, shiva/shakti). In true tantra, it is often about transcending the physical to reach higher states of consciousness.
Our approach: We work physically and sensually without any religious rituals, mantras, meditations, breathing techniques for energy lifting or spiritual concepts. It is pure bodily pleasure, intimacy and skill – without any esoteric layer.

  • We have different goals and different intentions.
In tantra, climax cannot be a goal. It is often deliberately avoided (especially in men, to preserve or strengthen sexual energy). The focus is on spreading sexual energy throughout the body, achieving full-body ecstasy or spiritual connection – without achievement or "happy ending".
Our approach: We allow our clients to have an element of pleasure-oriented focus that can potentially lead to ejaculation or orgasm. In our view, a prohibition against climax can not only cause the client shame, but also frustration that can block constructive sexual development.

  • Role and dynamics
In classical tantra, the masseur often acts as a guide, maintaining a neutral, non-reciprocal role (no mutual touching). The client is in a receptive and preferably meditative state.
Our approach: As couples who share knowledge about sex and teach on a practical level, we are happy to allow clients to take a more active role and therefore also have a degree of sexual and physical interaction with the therapist.

  • Context and language
Tantra often uses concepts from Sanskrit (lingam, yoni, shakti), rituals (lights, music, altar, incense), and talks about "sacred sexuality", "energy flow" or "inner union".
Our approach: We keep it down-to-earth without rituals and in a language that does not require prerequisites and where everyone can participate.

Who is Lingam Massage aimed at?

If you are interested in Eastern or Tantric thinking, lifestyle and philosophy, it may be preferable to choose a Tantric therapist who works within the tradition. If you want a more down-to-earth and direct approach, sexological massage may be the right approach for you.
